Zaporizhia State Medical University (ZSMU)
One of the leading educational establishments of Ukraine (IV level of accreditation) was founded in 1964 in Zaporizhia. About 5000 Ukrainian students go into higher medical education (premedical/medical/post-diploma periods of training). The training of foreign students is carried out at 2 departments (pharmaceutical and medical). About 70 doctors of science and professors are engaged in scientific and pedagogical work.
ZSMU consists of five academic buildings, library with more than 600 thousand books, 20 clinics. There is also a sport complex with several gyms, stadium, sports grounds for volleyball, handball, basketball.
Odessa National Medical University (ONMU)
The university was founded in 1900 and soon become one of the most prestigious medical institutions first in the Russian Empire and then in USSR. Today this Ukrainian university is well recognized in America and Europe. It consists of about 60 departments; the number of students surpasses 6000.
ONMU provides Ukrainian and foreign students with all necessary conditions for studying and leisure time spending. Sport complex consists of six sports halls, there are several sport groups (tennis, handball, athletics etc.). Many famous medical scientists worked there (for example, Nobel laureate I. Mechnikov).
Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU)
One of the oldest Ukrainian educational institutions was founded in 1805. In 1951 training of foreign students started and by now about 4000 specialists from different countries of the world have been trained there. KNMU has 65 departments and 7 faculties, 2 research institutes, 4 research laboratories. About 700-750 teachers work at the KNMU departments, among them many Honored Scientists of Ukraine, Members of International Medical Associations. KNMU is added to the World Health Organization register of medical universities.
Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU)
Established in 1944 in Chernivtsi, today Bukovinian State Medical University is a modern educational institution of IV accreditation level. More than 4000 Ukrainian and foreign students (India, Sudan, Somali, Nigeria, Ghana) are trained there.
The training of students is carried out at 7 faculties and about 50 departments. About 50 Professors and 300 Assistant Professors work at all BSMU departments. About 80 Doctors of Medical Science are members of BSMU teaching staff. BSMU is a recognized member of International University Association (IAU) and World Health Organization (WHO).
Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University (DHLNMU)
University was established in 1784 (Medical Faculty of Lviv University), it is considered to be one of the biggest and oldest universities in Ukraine. From 1961 DHLNMU provides education for foreign students.
There are 6 faculties and 78 departments. More than hundred professors and about 400 Associate professors work at departments of the university. 22 scientific schools function in DHLNMU. According to the IV accreditation level training in DHLNMU is carried out at qualification levels of Master, Specialist, Bachelor, Junior Specialist.
Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University (IFNMU)
The university was established in 1945, today it is the leading higher education establishment of the northwest part of Ukraine. Students of IFNMU can apply for licensure in more than hundred countries, including Germany, France, Canada, USA, Australia. Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University is affiliated to WHO (World Health Organization) and (IMED) International Medical Education Directory.
About 5 thousand students are training at 5 faculties. Teaching staff consists of 77 PhDs and 19 Academicians. IFNMU provides continuity of higher medical education (Master, Medical Specialist, Bachelor, Junior Specialist).
Bogomolets National Medical University (BNMU)
The university was established in 1841 in Kyiv (capital of Ukraine). It is named after famous Ukrainian physiologist Alexander Bogomolets. Nowadays it is an educational establishment of IV level of accreditation. More than 12 thousand students from the whole world go into higher medical education there.
BNMU provides training at 10 faculties. The teaching staff consists of about 1200 teachers, among them – 144 professors and 338 associate professors. Starting from 2004 English language is used in training foreign students. BNMU cooperates with the University of Oxford (Great Britain) and the University of Alabama (USA).
Ternopil State Medical University (TSMU)
Founded in 1957, today TSMU has IV accreditation level and welcomes student from more than 30 countries of the world. More than 4000 students are trained at 5 faculties, among them – about 1000 foreign students. Languages of instruction are Ukrainian and English. Teaching staff consists of more than 400 teachers, among them 59 professors and 124 associate professors.
Ternopil State Medical University is listed in the WHO (World Health Organization) directory of medical establishments and the FAIMER (International Medical Education) directory. Since 2005 the diplomas granted by TSMU can be converted in every country of the European Union.
Dnipropetrovsk State Medical Academy (DSMA)
The academy was founded in 1916. Today DSMA is one of the leading educational institutions in Ukraine (IV level of accreditation) with continuous training at three levels: premedical/undergraduate/postgraduate. About 4500 students are trained at different faculties of the academy. Among them – about 600 foreign students from 53 countries of the world. Teaching staff consists of 625 teachers training students at 7 faculties.
DMSA has partnership with educational institutions of the USA, Germany, Canada, France. The academy actively cooperates with WHO (World Health Organization).
Lugansk State Medical University (LSMU)
The university was founded in 1956. From 1983 it began training foreign students from Asia, Africa, Middle Eastern countries. LSMU has IV accreditation level. More than 3500 students are trained there. Graduates are eligible for certification in Canada and the USA. About 600 teachers work at 6 LSMU faculties. The university also offers interns the opportunity to specialize in one of twenty-five areas (psychiatry, dermatology, dentistry, infectious diseases etc.).
LSMU has 3 academic buildings, a dental clinic, a pharmacy, scientific laboratories and fitness center.
Crimea State Medical University (CSMU)
Established in 1931 in Simferopol, Crimea State Medical University is named after S. Georgievsky (famous scientist and CSMU rector). It is one of the most prominent high medical schools in Ukraine with the highest accreditation level (IV). The university has 6 faculties and about 50 departments. About 5000 students are trained there (among them – approximately 1600 foreign students from 30 countries of the world). Teaching staff consists of 700 teachers.
CSMU has sixteen educational buildings, five hostels, sport center. The library fund consists of 600 thousand books. Crimea State Medical University has its own publishing center.
Vinnytsya National Pyrogov Memorial Medical University (VNMU)
National Pirogov Memorial Medical University was founded in Vinnytsya in 1921. In 1960 the establishment was named after M. Pyrogov – famous surgeon and anatomist. In 1961 VNMU began to train foreign citizens. In 1994 VNMU was accredited as an educational establishment of IV level.
There are 6 faculties and 55 departments (clinical and theoretical). The teaching staff consists of more than 800 persons. The number of students is about 8000. Modern center of new information technologies can be used by students and teachers. There are two sport complexes, stadium and a sanatorium for 50 persons.
Donetsk National Medical University of M. Gorky (DonNMU)
The university was established in 1930. In 2011 it was recognized as the best medical university in Ukraine. It is listed in the directories of WHO (World Health Organization). DonNMU is one of the most attractive Ukrainian medical universities for foreigners due to low tuition fees for medical education and good quality of training.
About 4000 students are trained at 8 DonNMU faculties. The total teaching staff is more than 1100 teachers. In 2005 Donetsk National Medical University started teaching students according with the Bologna Agreement, so students can make transfers to any European medical high school after completing their first year at DonNMU.
Poltava State Medical and Dental University (Ukrainian Medical and Stomatological Academy UMSA)
Founded in 1921 in Poltava, today it is one of the leading medical institutions of Ukraine of IV accreditation level. PSMU trains students at six faculties. Total number of students is 3600, among them – more than 900 international students from 40 countries from all over the world. Among the teaching staff there are 75 professors and 174 assistant professors.The forms of studies are full-time and part-time.
Poltava State Medical and Dental University occupies 16 buildings – 5 academic buildings, a sport complex, a dining room, a library, 4 dormitories etc. It is one of the best universities to study medicine in Ukraine (according to Ukrainian ranking).
